How to Add an Image Gallery in WordPress

Log into your WordPress website to access the WordPress dashboard.

Now you need to access the page or post that you would like to add an image gallery to. On the screen, you need to click on the ‘Add New Block’ icon and then select the ‘Gallery’ block.

This will add the gallery block to the editor.

Now you can click on the ‘Upload’ button and this will allow you to select images from your computer that can be uploaded to your website. Alternatively, you can use previously uploaded images to create your gallery. These should already be in the media library.

You can upload more than one image at a time in some cases, but this can slow down the process.

After you’ve uploaded the images you want for your image gallery, you can click on the photos in the media library and then you can create a caption for each one. Adding a caption can help with SEO and can also improve your website’s conversion rate and engagement with the audience.

Now you need to select the images one at a time and change other metadata on them. You might want to change elements such as the alt text, title, description and more.

Now you want to select all the images that you want for the gallery and click on the option that reads ‘Create New gallery’.

The next option is to ‘Edit Gallery’. You can review the images and the captions. When you’re done you can click on the option to ‘Update gallery’.

Now you will be directed to the post edit screen. This will have the gallery block settings option on the right side of the screen. You can make lots of changes here like the number of rows and columns.
